Add a feedback board to Shopify

Let customers suggest and vote on products and features in your Shopify store, with a Feedback button on every page or a board on a page of its own.

Before you start

Sign up free at getusernote.com, create a board, and copy your board ID from the board’s Install tab (it starts with ws_). Replace ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID in the snippets below with it.

Add a Feedback button to every page

First duplicate your theme as a backup (Online Store → Themes → … → Duplicate). Then:

  • In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  • Click … next to your current theme → Edit code.
  • Open layout/theme.liquid and paste this just before the closing </body> tag, then Save:
<script src="https://getusernote.com/widget.js" data-workspace="ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID" defer></script>

Theme code edits stay with this copy of the theme: if you switch or reinstall your theme, add the snippet again.

Put the board on its own page

With an Online Store 2.0 theme, create a page (Online Store → Pages) and give it its own page template, so the board doesn’t appear on every page. In the theme editor, open that template, click Add section → Custom Liquid, and paste:

<div id="feedback"></div>
<script src="https://getusernote.com/widget.js" data-workspace="ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID" data-mode="inline" data-target="#feedback" defer></script>

Add data-view="roadmap" to open on the roadmap instead.

No code at all: link to your hosted board

Every board has its own public page. Add a “Feedback” or “Roadmap” link to your main menu (Online Store → Navigation) pointing at it; it works on any plan, with nothing to install.

Next steps

  • Settings → Allowed websites: add your domain so nobody can embed your board elsewhere.
  • Settings → Accent color: match the button to your brand.
  • Turn on Require approval if you want to check ideas before they appear.
