Add a feedback board to your mobile app
Let the people using your app suggest and vote on features without leaving it. There’s no SDK to install: every UserNote board has its own mobile-friendly page, and your app opens it from a menu item or button. Changes to the board never need an app update.
Before you start
Sign up free at getusernote.com, create a board, and copy your board ID from the board’s Install tab (it starts with ws_). Replace ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID in the snippets below with it.
Your board’s address
Your board lives at this address; add ?view=roadmap to open on the roadmap instead:
https://getusernote.com/b/ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID
https://getusernote.com/b/ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID?view=roadmapAdd a “Feedback” or “Suggest a feature” item to your app’s settings screen or menu that opens it, using one of the two ways below.
Open it in an in-app browser (recommended)
An in-app browser slides up over your app with a Done button, so people come straight back afterwards. It’s the least code and works on every plan.
iOS (Swift)
import SafariServices
let url = URL(string: "https://getusernote.com/b/ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID")!
present(SFSafariViewController(url: url), animated: true)Android (Kotlin, androidx.browser)
import android.net.Uri
import androidx.browser.customtabs.CustomTabsIntent
CustomTabsIntent.Builder().build()
.launchUrl(context, Uri.parse("https://getusernote.com/b/ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID"))React Native (Expo)
import * as WebBrowser from 'expo-web-browser';
<Button title="Feedback" onPress={() => WebBrowser.openBrowserAsync('https://getusernote.com/b/ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID')} />Flutter (url_launcher)
import 'package:url_launcher/url_launcher.dart';
launchUrl(Uri.parse('https://getusernote.com/b/ws_YOUR_BOARD_ID'), mode: LaunchMode.inAppBrowserView);Or show it inside a screen of your app (WebView)
If you’d rather the board looked like part of your app, load the same address in a WebView on its own screen (WKWebView on iOS, WebView on Android, react-native-webview, or webview_flutter). Keep JavaScript and DOM storage turned on: the board needs them for voting.
A WebView loads the board as a full page. On a website, use the script tag instead: it fits the page and needs no fixed height.
Tips
- Name your board after your app; the name shows at the top of the board.
- Votes are counted once per device, without accounts, so people can vote straight away.
- If your app also has a website or web version, add the Feedback button there too: it’s the same board.
Next steps
- Settings → Allowed websites: add your domain so nobody can embed your board elsewhere.
- Settings → Accent color: match the button to your brand.
- Turn on Require approval if you want to check ideas before they appear.
